Redefining The Global Tech Industry

Bringing Together People and Companies

By: Chelsy Swackhamer

For the second year in a row, our team attended Collision Conference in Toronto, Canada from May 20-23. Now in its fifth year, Collision has grown to over 25,000 attendees, bringing together the people and companies redefining the global tech industry. With attendees from all over the world, some of the familiar speakers for this year were Seth Rogan, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and David Eun (CIO and President of Samsung Next).

Smart Break at Collision 2019 in Toronto

Two days of exhibiting got us exactly what we needed.

Our team was able to exhibit for two days at Collision. This provided us with a greater opportunity to network with the nearly 25,000 attendees. Our Vice President, Lawrence Smith, was pleased with the overall event and had a lot of positive comments.

"This year went far better than last year in terms of attendees. We were pleased with the amount of foot traffic our booth was receiving. Also, the fact that we exhibited two days adds to this. We were able to meet with more consultants than last year in New Orleans, which helped to reach one of our two goals while attending. As we continue to grow, we want to meet with more partners and resellers. Although the evening events were slightly more disorganized than the previous year, it was still a wonderful opportunity to network. Overall it was a better event for Smart Break and Raisoft to attend."

Tired of the occasional fitness class? They are...

While in attendance, we hoped to hear what companies were currently doing for their workplace wellness initiatives. While we were happy to hear that companies are offering corporate wellness opportunities, it was interesting to find out not everybody enjoys what their company is currently doing. What are companies unhappy about? Here's what Lawrence had to say about some of the feedback he received.

"The feedback was what I expected. People could not believe we had such a clever product. One thing that is starting to occur is people are mentioning that they are getting tired of having a company-wide yoga and exercise only 2 times a month or so. They loved the idea of doing something short and sweet during the day."

Will there be a third year?

They say that 3 is the magic number. (Hint: this is why Smart Break is 3 minutes). Knowing that Collision will be in Toronto next year is definitely appealing, but only time will tell if we will return. We felt that Collision is a wonderful event to meet like-minded startups, but we would like to get more out of it.

Imagine if Collision had one minute Smart Breaks after every talk!!!

Collision has become a crossroads for the world’s largest buyers and sellers of technology.  While we can't commit to anything at this moment, we plan to keep our minds open to the possibility of returning. We have yet to be disappointed with the event, and would highly recommend it to anybody in the tech world.
